Friday Updates May/June 2008

Southwest Elementary School
Friday Update
May 9, 2008

I have talked with you from time to time about my appreciation for the great things that mothers are able to do (No offense: Mr. Keener, Mr. Vest, Mr. Squire, Mr. Washington, Mr. Dodd, Mr. Rucker & Mr. Schmoyer). My career in education has blessed me with the opportunity to work with many wonderfully gifted people and most of them have been women. Whether you are a mother or not, please know that we appreciate what you do every day for our students.

Happy Mother’sDay

Our 4th graders just showed how well they were prepared with our preliminary writing score results. The EOG’s will also show the results of your hard work. Thank you for a great year!

******In order to effectively conduct our end of grade tests, many people have to help. Please check Debbie Herrin’s email from 5/15/08 to be sure that you are informed about personnel needed, rooms used, specials, etc.

To effectively conduct our end of grade tests, many people have to help. We need to send a special thank you to Mrs. Herrin and every person who was involved with the tests. THANK YOU!!

We all have much to do and many tasks to complete, but be sure and take the time to enjoy these lasts days. We work too hard to get to this point in the year to let “little things” get in the way of enjoying the celebrations with our students. Thank you for all of your time and preparation to make the end of year events meaningful for our children.

We are down to only 2 days of school left! I know that we all have been swamped with the “regular” end of year tasks in addition to our work to get ready to implement Positive Behavior Support. We are all stressed, but please know that the work that we are doing now will pay off for 2008-09. Southwest is W A Y ahead of my previous school in terms of being ready for PBS.
As I have said, it is hard to finish one year well while planning for the next. Your involvement and ideas will help to ensure that next year goes as smoothly as possible. Thank you for all of your time and preparation to help us end this year well while getting ready for next year!
